Planning Your Charcoal Order: How Much a Hookah Lounge Actually Uses

The two most common ordering mistakes are equal and opposite: tying up cash in a container you cannot move, or running dry halfway through the month and sending customers elsewhere. A rough volume estimate avoids both.

Start from sessions, not boxes

A single hookah session typically burns a handful of cubes, and a busy lounge runs dozens of sessions a day. Rather than guess in boxes, estimate from sessions per day × cubes per session. Even a back-of-the-envelope number beats ordering on instinct.

Turn daily use into monthly volume

Multiply your daily cube use by 30 and convert to weight (your supplier can tell you the cubes-per-kilo for a given size). That monthly weight is your real consumption — the number every ordering decision should start from.

Map it to container or pallet

A 20ft container is ~19 tonnes. For a single venue that is usually many months of stock, which is why single lounges often buy through a distributor rather than import directly. Distributors, chains and importers are the ones whose monthly volume justifies a full container. If you are a multi-location group, add up all the venues — that is where direct importing starts to pay off.

Leave a buffer, but not a warehouse

Hold enough that a shipping delay never empties your shelves, but not so much that cash sits frozen in stock for half a year. A practical target is enough cover for your lead time plus a margin — for most buyers, somewhere between one and three months of consumption.
